ARETE Performance Nutrition is an online consulting and information resource collaboratively working with athletes and coaches to share and promote evidence-based nutrition education.

OUR APPROACH

Our nutrition philosophy is rooted in a whole food, anti-inflammatory approach to sports nutrition that holistically evaluates diet and lifestyle to provide personalized recommendations. Our sports dietitians help bring the focus back to food, so that athletes learn to develop healthy eating habits, not just the ability to count nutrients. By using client-driven coaching, we provide the support and guidance for athletes to individually define what healthy means for them and to develop the habits necessary for life-long change and performance optimization.

Ancient Greek philosophical term to describe “virtue and excellence”; an ideal that encompasses every aspect of human life—mind, body and soul, and the relentless pursuit to achieve to one’s full potential.

So why did we choose this word? Arete, in its various forms, represents the overall goal of this company and the the athletes we work with. Mickinzie Lopez, MS, RDN

Founder, Sports Dietitian

 

As the founder and lead sports dietitian for ARETE Performance Nutrition, Mickinzie Lopez is a California native committed to promoting healthy, sustainable eating habits and an active, outdoor lifestyle. She has spent the last seven years promoting an anti-inflammatory diet for athletes and is currently most passionate about the work she is doing to bring nutrition education to outdoor sports.

As a previous professional and collegiate team sport dietitian turned entrepreneur, Mickinzie has developed a unique perspective when it comes to working with athletes and balancing a healthy lifestyle. Influenced by the nutrition experts in her field and the holistic approach provided by Bastyr University, she aspires to help athletes of all ages and skill levels achieve their fullest potential, while sustainably nourishing their mind, body and spirit.
